R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
- hm ok well i’m gonna focus on Real Life Writers. i think in most recent memory i’ve learned the most from james joyce and nicole krauss (specifically, joyce’s potrait of the artist and krauss’ history of love). i was blown away by their control of language and the stories they were telling. every single time i read a passage or thought about the story i would learn something new, and that was astounding to me, so if i could replicate a tenth of what they were doing that’d be a dream.
Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate?
- nope. never. i can’t handle it in almost every circumstance.
